About Adrian
Adrian Ward MMus BMus (Hons) MSTAT
I am a fully qualified Alexander Technique practitioner working in Brighton & Hove. I am a fully certified member of STAT (Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique) I have a private practice helping clients manage pain such as back or neck pain, muscle tension, poor posture or breathing and management of stress and anxiety. See here for a full list of benefits.
I undertook a 3 year training at the Brighton Alexander Technique College where I have also worked as a teaching assistant.
I originally trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London as a classical singer where I gained both a bachelor and masters degree in music performance, specialising in voice. I subsequently went on to sing roles at Glyndebourne and Scottish Opera when I first came across the technique. I was singing in a production on a raked stage and developed back problems. I started lessons which were an absolute revelation for me - not only did my back pain disappear, I felt such an inner peace and clarity of mind. I decided from then on that I must complete the teacher training and pass on this wonderful work.
I also run a private singing practice giving singing lessons combined with Alexander Technique work and focusing on vocal development. I also teach singing at Lancing College and have given vocal masterclasses at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
I am a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT), Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM), Association of Teachers of Singing (Aotos) and have a fully enhanced DBS certificate.
