I am both a fully qualified Alexander Technique Practitioner and singing teacher in Hove. I have an MSTAT qualification as well as a masters and bachelors degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, specialising in voice. I also attended the Guildhall's prestigious two year Opera School Programme. After leaving Guildhall I went on to sing professionally for companies such as Glyndebourne Opera and Scottish Opera. I currently teach singing for Lancing College and have given vocal masterclasses for the University of St Andrews. I run a private practice teaching beginner to professional level in the genres of Classical, Opera and Musical Theatre.
Having originally trained and worked as a professional singer, I naturally have a passion for working with singers and understand the challenges they face. Today, singers need to be agile in order to move around a stage freely whilst at the same time singing fiendishly difficult arias which in themselves, require extraordinary skill, vocal prowess and physical stamina. All of this can be stressful and tiring on the body and in some cases lead to injury or strain.
To sing or play an instrument well requires a body and mind that co-ordinates, balances, breaths and moves freely. I offer specific Alexander Technique voice sessions to help you develop an integrated body that supports a healthy vocal technique from which to cultivate your own unique sound.
